Bugatti VeyronIn the not too distant past, the Buggati Veyron was the most powerful, fastest and most expensive car on earth. But not anymore. It now stands third on the list of 10 most powerful cars.
With a maximum power output of 1001 bhp, this car held the laurels of the most powerful street-legal production car in the world between October 2005 to September 2007 before being edged out first by the Fighter T and then by Ultimate Aero TT.
Powered by an 8-litre, W16 engine with four turbocharger, the Bugatti Veyron has a proven top speed of 408 kmph. This beauty can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 2.5 seconds. The W16 engine produces such overwhelming heat that it needs 17 different cooling devices to keep the temperature within control.
Veyron is built by Volkswagen subsidiary Bugatti Automobiles SAS in Alsace, France. It is sold under the Bugatti marquee and has been named in honour of the French racing legend Pierre Veyron.
