Ignorance is like a double-edged sword. You may ignore people and keep many problems at bay; however, you may also lose great relationships and friendships. It feels worse when you’re at the receiving end of ignorance. How to combat this feeling? Well, instead of being all tit-for-tat, try dealing with it by other better ways.

1. Introspect

Recall all your actions. Think about all the things you said to them. There would be something which they took offense about. If it’s clear, you know what the problem is and can approach them to apologise.

2. Spam them

If someone is not receiving your calls, or has blocked you on their social media accounts then try getting in touch via mails or an SMS. If you’ve no clue why you’re being ignored, then you’ve every right to spam them and ask what the matter is. Avoid being creepy while doing so.

3. Hold on

Okay, if things don't work out even after spamming them and calling innumerable times, wait for some time. The ‘waiting’ sucks but there’s nothing you can do, since the other person isn’t reciprocating. Let time pass, maybe they’ll get back in touch.

4. Be polite

Don’t show signs of shock or surprise while asking them about their whereabouts. Be cool and start a conversation you would normally start when you were friends. Don’t show your anger. Replace it with politeness.

5. Request a friend to intervene

If and only if the person truly knows you and the other person, should you ask them to step in. Ask them to play the messenger and tell them how bad you feel about being ignored by them.

6. Apologise

Even if it’s not your mistake, do so to save the relationship. Your ego isn't that important - your relationship is.
