As Raksha Bandhan rolls around once more, it's time to show your sister just how much she means to you.

While many settle for a cash gift (much to the delight of some sisters), nothing says 'you're special' like a carefully picked gift.

To make your hunt for the perfect gift a little easier, we present some favourites.

Jewellery

Every girl loves getting jewellery. So whether it's a watch (over-sized watches are in this year), or a bracelet or even a necklace and earring set -- you can bet she'll be thrilled!

The choice is endless when it comes to these handy gadgets! From 512 KB options for as little as Rs 1,200 to a high-range iPod -- MP3 players are a must-have and will make a perfect gift if your sis does not own one.

To make it even more personal, create a playlist or two of her favourite tunes!

Most brothers out there must have, at some point teased their sisters for having way too many shoes -- and chances are they were right. However, as absurd as it seems to own four pairs of black (or any other colour for that matter) shoes -- a fifth will be a welcome addition! Stiletto heels are big this year as are comfy ballerina flats -- just make sure you get the size right!

Books aren't the most conventional gift, but if sister dearest is a bookworm, what could be better? Pick up the latest bestseller or do a little snooping from friends and family to find out what's on her 'must-read' list.

If she already has the latest title doing the rounds, you might want to spring for a gift voucher from her favourite book store.

Sure, she already spends a lot of time on the phone -- so what could be better than giving her an excuse to lock herself up in her room instead of hogging the house's only landline?

The options here are endless with new models to suit every budget, so make sure you look around a bit before you commit to one. One of the cheapest available is a Nokia model for as little as Rs 1,200.

This is almost always a welcome gift. Get her a gift pack of her favourites or pick up some delicious imported brands and try your hand at giftwrapping them, maybe in a pretty cane basket or delicately designed gift box.
