Hot hues are back in vogue; it’s time for your mane to flirt with racy reds, glazy golds and eye catching coppers! If trends on the international ramps are any indication, then now is the right time to get the zing back into your hair with some shocking colour therapy, stress the experts at Schwarzkopf Professional.
The hair care brand organized a live demonstration on global hair colour trends and the temptation to add some brilliance to your bangs was hard to resist. Australian creative artist and Schwarzkopf’s global ambassador for education, Millicent Howe showcased the latest ‘Inspired Grandeur’ collection and talked at length about new colour variations and styles that are in vogue this season. Hairstylist to a range of Hollywood celebrities like Cate Blanchett and Jodie Kidd, Millicent showed great excitement at the prospect of working on Indian hair. She said, “Hair everywhere is same, there is only a variation of colour. A good hairstyle is universal in its appeal.”
Indian allure
Millicent maintained, “What draws me towards India are the little fancy things that can be used to liven up a hairstyle.” She added, fishing out a shiny beaded lace from her handbag, “Accessories like these look so regal and are very Indian in their appeal. Just tucking up a nice lace, artificial flowers or beaded garlands can glamourise the entire look. While India is hot on flowers, in Europe it’s the feathers on the hair that are gaining popularity.” Talking about innovation the master hairstylist commented, “I also often use coloured ropes on hair. They can look stunning if tucked together to create a loop like structure.”
But will the somewhat bizarre concept of ropes on hair go down well with the conservative-at-heart Indian belles? Najeeb Rehman, technical manager, Schwarzkopf responded, “It’s a trick to use accessories like these on hair. One of course has to keep in mind the outfit and the occasion before making a statement like this.”
Colour codes
Though colouring hair is not really a new phenomenon in the country, the workshop aimed an enlightening the people on newer shades and styles that can best enhance a dull, dry mop of hair. Millicent said, “Reds and violets are great shades to go for but I suggest using it towards mid lengths and the ends of the hair as it will give a more prominent glaze.”
Talking about the Indian fascination to go blonde, Najeeb remarked, “I agree that many Indians come to me clamouring to look like blonde babes. But I always advise them to use safer options. I suggest using a bit of icy brown along with beige to tone down the effect.”
Millicent, while diligently working on model’s hair suggested, “While using curling tongs always start working from face towards the roots. This will give a more finished look.”
From graduated bobs to long layered hair, the star stylist worked from one immaculate hairstyle to the other. The result: simply stunning creations that left the audience mesmerised!
