Who said poems are for boring people?

Who said poems are for boring people?
The popular kid in high school
who makes it so believable
only for poets know he's a fool.

Who said poems are for sad folks?
The elegiac ways of Thomas Gray
who merely mocks and jokes
because he hasn't seen a better day.

Who said poems are for the disillusioned?
Because Coleridge took opium
with beautiful words he dreamed
and developed carpe diem.

Who said poets are for escape?
Known only to be free
where I can run and take
poetry for me...
