It's the tail end of March. And whether you like it or not, the heat is on!

The gorgeous ladies of Bollywood are far from worried. Fashion is their style, substance and saviour.

rediff.com browses through fashion recipes on how to dress in the face of summer.

Floral girl

Petunias, daisies and dahlia -- it's the season of blooms. There's nothing like a dash of floral prints to feel pretty and upbeat in the hot sun.

A ravishing Priyanka Chopra has it all figured out. Doesn't the leggy beauty look divine in this flower-patterned dress?

White is eternal. White is ethereal. White never goes out of fashion. And when the scorching summer bites, nothing like the cool, cool, white to beat the heat.

Rani Mukerji knows it only too well. The actress, who turned 29 on March 21, looks super trendy in a crisp white shirt teamed with fitting blue jeans.

Pastels have a soothing effect on the trying summers. Trust Karisma Kapoor to glow in soft hues of peach, pink and lavender.

Buzz is, following the example of Kajol and Madhuri Dixit, the Dil To Pagal Hai star, too, is all set to make a comeback in a David Dhawan comedy.

For now, though, her fans will have to make do with the long-in-the-making Zamaanat featuring her along with Amitabh Bachchan and Arshad Warsi.

When the temperature starts to rise, so do the hemlines.

Taking a break from jackets and jeans, Preity Zinta opts for a minimalist wardrobe to romp on the golden sands of a Melbourne beach.

Perhaps she was inspired by Saif's shirtless avatar? The dimpled star gets both our salaam for this.

Chic Chiffon

Saris are sexy. And if it's made of chiffon, God bless us all! Elegant and classy, chiffon beat the daylights out of sticky summers.

If there's one woman who simply dazzles in a sari, its Sushmita Sen. Polka dots or stripes, the enigmatic star drapes them all to a breathtaking effect.

Summers scream for no frills and nothing fancy. Tee-shirts, sporty tanks or casual camisoles, provide just the right blend of comfort. Combine them with jeans, capris or skirts; the end result is always hip.

You can catch fashion conscious Kareena Kapoor in quite a few stylish tees in movies like Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai, Khushi and Hulchul. And boy, does she do them justice!

Graceful and snug, cottons are wonderfully refreshing. Humidity or heat wave, they can take it all in their stride.

Sure she's guilty of steaming up the screens with her sensual act in Dhoom 2. But glamorous comes effortlessly to Aishwarya Rai.

Here, the bride-to-be makes a serene picture in a radiant cotton kurti and flowing skirt.

Berets, cowboy hats or baseball caps, head gear is a must-have accessory in fashion on Bollywood turf. Now when you are as sizzling as Mallika Sherawat, summer is least of your botherations.

Along the lines of J Lo, Sherawat looks rather swell in a cool beret. Whether it's to prevent the harsh sun from ruining her tresses or following the fad, the side effects are definitely positive.
