GUAVA (Amrood, Peyara, Jaam ) It is a fruit of the genus Psidium (family Myrtaceae). The common guava is a large shrub or small tree with quadrangular branchlets, oval to oblong leaves about 7.6 centimetres (3 inches) in length and four-petalled white flowers about 2.5 centimetres broad. The fruits are round to pear shaped and measure up to 7.6 centimetres in diameter; the white to salmon-red pulp contain many such hard seeds. Guavas are processed into jams, jellies and preserves. Fresh guavas are rich in vitamins A, B and C; they are eaten raw or sliced and served with sugar and cream as a dessert. It is highly effective in removing constipation. It is commonly called 'Indian Apple'. Benefit and uses of Guava.
