Mudras can cure almost any ailment from a simple earache to a heart attack. If a person who has developed heart trouble performs Mritsanjivini Mudra; it will lead to a path of permanent recovery. Through Mritsanjivini Mudra a patient who is suffering a heart attack can check the attack and get instant relief. Technique:

• Fold the forefinger down on the mound of the thumb,. Join the thumb with the tips of the third and fourth finger.

• The little figure remains straight.

• Close your eyes and relax, keeping whole body motionless. The gesture thus formed is the Mritsanjivini Mudra.


Some more healthy tips for the heart:
# Early morning is ideal for taking a walk, while keeping your hands in Mritsanjivini Mudra. This will not only help your heart, it will prepare you for the day by charging up your circulation and your metabolism.

# Yoga and Dhyan for at least 30 minutes, three or more times per week helps strengthen the heart.

# Nadi Sodhana Paranayam is the best exercise for heart patients and can be done virtually anywhere, anyplace. For this inhale though the right nostril, exhale through the left; then again inhale through the left and exhale through the right.

# Increase fibre and reduce fat intake in your diet as this helps lower blood cholesterol. Fibre is found only in plants — fruits, vegetables and grains.

# Learn to stay calm so that you don’t lose your temper and increase your blood pressure. Deep breathing is a good way to control anger and to relax.

# Make yourself feel free and happy, keep smiling always. Even five minutes of laughter keeps our stress at the lowest possible level.

The five fingers on our hand represent the five elements. The ring finger represents earth, the little finger represents water, the thumb represents fire, the index finger represents air and finally the middle finger represents space. Physical ailments are the results of the disturbance in the equilibrium of the five elemental forces of the body. This imbalance of the elements can be easily cured through Science of Mudras.

Apan Mudra
Joining the tips of middle and ring finger with the tip of thumb forms the Apan Mudra.

Benefits:
Cleanses and purifies the body.
Provide relief in urinary problems.
Facilitates discharge of waste material from the body.
This Mudra is totally harmless, and can be practise as much as possible.

Along with practise of this mudra, if a proper quantity of water along with boiled Vegetables is taken daily at breakfast, then the working capacity of the body will increase greatly and the natural glow or beauty of the body will also increase. Another miracle that is possible too, is that the habit of tea and even smoking can be controlled by this process. This process will also work as a miracle for those students who always feel lazy and tired.

Pran Mudra
By joining the tips of ring finger and little finger with the tip of the Thumb, the Pran Mudra is formed.

Benefits:
Practise of Pran Mudra improves the Vitality of the body.
It improves eyesight.
Helps in proper functioning of the lungs.
Energises the heart.
The miracle of Pran Mudra is that when the eyes gets fixed, then by rubbing the tips of ring finger and little finger with the tip of the Thumb, the movement of eyes will start.

 
The science of mudra is Tatva Yoga, that is yoga based on the science of elements and not accupressure. These mudras can cure many diseases, if performed properly,
Ling Mudra
Join both palms and interlock the fingers. However, keep the right thumb upright.This thumb must be encircled by the other thumb and index finger.
Benefits:
> Helps cure a bad cold and chest complications which occur due to cough (Tridosh).
> If Ling mudra is practised daily, along with proper performance of Kapalbhati Pranayam, then various complicated diseases of the chest can be healed.
> Helps reduce body fat to some extent

Caution:
You may have often noticed people sitting in a palmlocked position. This by itself is a very bad habit according to Mudra Vigyan, as by formation of this half Ling mudra the heat energy in the body starts increasing, resulting in uneasiness along with a feeling of lethargy. So, be cautious. Don’t practise this mudra more than required in half position.

Saman Mudra
Join the tips of all fingers with the tip of the thumb, this forms the Saman mudra.

Benefits:
> Helps in digestion and also cures various problems associated with the digestive system.
> An important function of this mudra is that it helps harmonise all the five elements.
> Cures various liver defects.

 

 

 
These are a series of simple yet effective mudras, which if practiced daily can keep you healthy for life. Yoga has tremendous healing power and can cure all major diseases, if performed properly. It also offers happiness,
'Hastmudras' provide energy to the body which helps in the purification process, and so keeps the body healthy. Though these mudras are easy and can be practiced at any time of the day, they are most effective on an empty stomach,

Vayu Mudra
Sit with your back and neck straight. Keep your index finger at the root of your thumb and press it. Index finger should also touch the middle finger. Then, move your hands to the knee region with the palms facing upwards. Put a little pressure on your palm and the rest of the hand should be in a relaxed position. Practice this for 10-15 minutes everyday.
Benefits: Helpful for gastro problems, joint pain, backache, sciatica, arthritis and Parkinson’s disease.

Akash Mudra
Sit with your back and neck straight. Join the tip of your middle finger with the thumb in both hands, press a little and keep rest of the fingers straight. Now, keep your hands near the knee with palms facing upwards. Sit in this position for five to ten minutes.
Benefits: Helpful in heart diseases. Strengthens bones.

Shunya Mudra
Sit comfortably. Put your middle finger of both the hands at the root of the thumb and press a little. Now keep your hands near the knee with your palm facing upwards. Sit in this position for five to ten minutes.
Benefits: Helps control deafness, strengthens gum muscles, and most importantly, regulates thyroid gland functions

 

 
Prithvi-mudra
Sit down comfortably. Touch your ring finger to the tip of the thumb and press it little. Rest three fingers should be held straight and then keep your palm at your knee. Practice it for 15-20 minutes.
Benefits: It helps thin persons gain weight, and it adds to freshness. Appetite increases and mind is maintained cool and calm.

Suryamudra
Sit down comfortably with your back and neck straight. Join tips of ring fingers at the root of the thumbs and press with the thumbs. The rest three fingers would be straight. Keep your hand at your folded knee, remember to keep palm facing up. Put a little pressure in your palm and rest of the hand would be in relax position. Practice it for 10-15 minutes everyday.
Benefits: It is beneficial for weight control and supply of energy. Health problems like diabetes, lever diseases and cholesterol are cured.

Varunmudra
Sit down comfortably with your back and neck straight. Join tips of little fingers and thumbs and keep rest three fingers straight. Keep your hand at your folded knee. Keep your palm tight and rest of the hand should be relaxed. Practice it for 10-15 minutes everyday.
Benefits: It improves skin glow, blood circulation. It also prevents dehydration, and skin diseases

 

 
Some brilliant, very effective and simple mudras, which you can practice anytime and anywhere:

GYAN MUDRA - One of the most important mudras. Widely accepted in all yogic meditation practices. Join the tip of forefinger and tip of the thumb. Hold together gently for at least 15-30 minutes.

• Bestows intelligence and wisdom
• Purifies the mind of the practitioner
• Cures many mental ailments
• Gives a feeling of joy
• Cures intoxication and addictive habits

PURN GYAN MUDRA - The mudra of Lord Buddha. Sit cross-legged. Keep both hands in 'Gyan Mudra' Posture. Now keep right hand near chest region. Keep left hand near knee region.

Advantages

• Clears the aura in the subtle astral body
• Causes electrical changes in the electromagnetic activity of the brain leading to increased clarity and understanding
• Improves memory to a great extent
• Soothes irritable temperaments
Bestows intelligence and wisdom

ABHAYA MUDRA - This is normally practised after Gayatri Mantra recitation. Raise both your hands to the sides of your head. Touch the forefinger to tip of thumb (just as in Gyan Mudra). Hold the hand vertically straight by the sides.

Advantages

• Mind becomes fearless
• Gives a feeling of courage and strength

DHYAAN MUDRA - Sit cross-legged. Place hands in Gyan Mudra, on your lap. Right palm should be resting above left palm in Gyan mudra

Advantages

• Gives tremendous peace and tranquility
• Helps increase concentration powers
• Cures depression and other mental ailments
• Practitioner can achieve the final state of eternal yogic bliss

PRITHVI MUDRA - Touch fore part of third finger (ring finger) to tip of thumb.

Advantages

• Helps balance the earth element in the body
• Normalizes body equilibrium
• Helps remove physical weakness
• Increases tolerance and patience
• Helps all who practice spiritual meditation

VARUN MUDRA - Touch the fore part of the smallest finger to the fore part of thumb.

Advantages

• Regular practice balances water element in body
• Enhances physical beauty
• Decreases dryness in skin and body

VAYU MUDRA - Fold the index finger (fore finger) on the pad of thumb. Press the forefinger gently on the pad. Keep the other finger aloof.

Advantages

• Helps in all nervous ailments
• Improves balance of air element in body
• Helpful in pains and aches
• Specific mudra for patients of Cerebral Palsy and Parkinson's ailment

PRAN MUDRA - Touch fore part of third (ring) finger and tip of fourth (little) finger to fore part of thumb.

Advantages

• Reduces body fatigue and energizes the whole body
• Very good for eyes
• Helps circulate the life current throughout the body optimally

LINGA MUDRA - Entwine (cross-link) all fingers of both hands keeping thumb straight.

Advantages

• Increases fire element in the body
• Very useful in cold, phlegm and cough ailments

MRITSANJIVINI MUDRA - Fold the index finger (fore finger) on the pad of thumb. Press the forefinger gently on the pad. Touch the fore part of third (longest) finger and fore part of fourth (ring) finger with the fore part of thumb.

Advantages

• It strengthens the heart
• Very useful in all heart ailments
• Helps normalize blood pressure
• Increases self-confidence

SURYA MUDRA - Touch the third (ring) finger to the pad of thumb. Press the thumb gently over this third (ring) finger. Keep the other fingers aloof.

Advantages

• Decreases Earth element in body
• Cures mental heaviness
• Reduces body fat
• Good for weight loss
