the athletes, visitors and gaming venues safe for the opening ceremony of the
2010 Commonwealth Games. The official opening will take place at the Jawaharlal
Nehru Stadium, the largest stadium of the event in New Delhi, India. It starts
at 07:00 on October 3, 2010.
Prince Charles, Prince of Wales and President of India Pratibha Patil will
officially declare the Games open. Acclaimed Indian film composer AR Rahman is
among the artists who will perform at the opening ceremony.
Significantly, Satyanand is the first person of Indian origin to occupy his
position as Governor General of New Zealand. Indian President Pratibha Patil for
the host nation, India, will attend the opening ceremony as well.
