Bollywood is often touted as a world full of glitz and glam. Especially when it comes to the actresses, they're always supposed to look picture perfect, at least that's what's expected out of them. But time and again, certain actresses have gone completely deglam for their roles, and did a great job despite that. Check out 11 times actresses went deglam for their roles and nailed the characters.

1. Kareena Kapoor in Omkara

Or even in Dev for that matter. Kareena Kapoor is one actress whose glam game is always spot on. Thanks to her natural beauty, even a little bit of makeup can make her look super gorgeous on screen. But you can often spot her getting clicked without any makeup while travelling. And she's one of the few actresses who have dared to go totally deglam on the big screen. Be it her simple and plain Jane look for Omkara, where she played a small town woman, or even in Dev, Kareena Kapoor nailed both the roles.

2. Alia Bhatt in Highway

Alia Bhatt has actually been quite lucky that she got a role like the one in Highway, and she got to work with a director like Imtiaz Ali, pretty early in her career. It was only her second film and she got to play such a complex character in Highway. And it wasn't just the make up. Her entire get up was deglam, and she completed the entire film in just 3-4 changes of costume as well!

3. Sonakshi Sinha in Lootera

Lootera is one gem of a movie which never got its due. And it also happens to one of the finest performances of both Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha. Sonkashi played a 1950's girl in Bengal, and considering those times, she had a plain look in the film. Simple sarees and bindi completed her get up. But even in that deglamorised get up, Sonakshi not only looked amazing, but did a great job in the movie too.

4. Priyanka Chopra in Barfi!

Be it in Barfi! or Mary Kom, Priyanka had a deglam look in both the movies. In Barfi! she played an autistic girl, and her get up was never seen before. In fact, when the movie's stills first came out, it was tough to recognise Priyanka, because she had always played super glam roles on the big screen. Even in Mary Kom, Priyanka had a totally deglamourised look, and she got much critical acclaim for that roles as well. In fact to fit into the character, she not only went deglam, but even built muscles and trained hard to look like boxer Mary Kom.

5. Katrina Kaif in Rajneeti

Well, you don't often get to see Katrina Kaif in a plain Jane look, which is why Rajneeti would always remain the most different kind of film she has ever done. Donning simple kurtas and minimal makeup, Katrina shocked us all with her simple get-up in this one. Especially the scenes in the end of the movie, when you can see her totally without makeup, donning simple sarees.

6. Sonam Kapoor in Raanjhana

Well, well! It's got to make headlines when the queen bee of fashion, Sonam Kapoor, comes on screen in a deglam avatar. In both Raanjhana and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Sonam had a pretty simple look, with minimal makeup, and simple salwar-kurta attire. While in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag Sonam had a cameo appearance, her role in Raanjhana won over both the critics and the audience.
