We’ve covered some incredible sculptures before but we’ve never seen anything like these silhouette artworks by artist Li Hongbo. By intricately cutting artworks of animals, humans and scenery from butchers knives the outline is left behind in negative space, making the sculptures appear as if it’s rising from the ground.

The use of butchers knives is symbolic according to the artist who explains their use – “human beings will eventually destroy themselves because of their gluttony and their abuse of animals,” hence the use of something as sharp and threatening as a butchers knife.
