WESTON-SUPER-MARE, UNITED KINGDOM - JULY 12: Sand sculptures are displayed at the Sand Sculpture Festival as it opens to the public on July 12 2008 in Weston Super Mare, England. Sand artists from across the globe have gathered at the festival to create themes, buildings and landmarks from 360 tonnes of sand representing the seven continents of the world. The festival runs until the end of August.

RYE, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA - FEBRUARY 16: A detail of a sand sculpture at the Australian Sand Sculpting Championships, February 16, 2003 in Rye, Victoria, Australia. Ten sand sculptures some up to 15 metres high, were made from 1500 tonnes of sand which took a month to complete. This years theme included a French Carnivale maze,with larger than life sculptures of a Ferris wheel, carousel and fun house. Sand artists from all over the world competed in the event.
